DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

We often think that women are safer in their home than out of their home. I used to think that too. But when asked to the women in a neighbourhood, the results which came out were shocking. Most Women were beaten up physically, harassed extremely in their own houses by their Fathers, Sons or Husbands respectively and correspondingly.

WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN?

In our country we think that our Indian Culture is the best in the World which gives equal respect to both the genders, but it’s not the case actually. We say that we respect women but we do not give them that. There is always an inferiority which a woman has to face in the society. She is always considered has weak and less than a Man. Each and every religion has altogether the same approach towards Women. This is an age-old approach known as PATRIARCHY meaning MALE DOMINATED SOCIETY.

For e.g. on the day of Rakshabandhan, it is said that your brother will be your Rakshak even if he is years younger than the sister. I am amazed sometimes seeing that the sister is 10 years older than her brother, then also he is called the protector of his sister. This is the mentality which needs to be changed. Another instance of the same is Women in India does fast on the day of Karwa Chauth for the well-being and longevity of her husband. If this is actually practical, then the husbands of other countries should die at an early age, as there is no system of Karwa Chauth there. Similarly Islam has adopted a system of Burqas for its women which is also an instance of PATRIARCHY.

In HINDI language, we call the relation of Husband and Wife as PATI & PATNI. Now PATI means SWAMI in Sanskrit and SWAMI means Owner. Now if one person is the Owner in a relationship, then logically the other one is Servant. So then the husbands think why they should not beat their wives as they are their owner. We do not have any other name for the Relationship of Husband and Wife which in turns shows the PATRIARCHY.

I asked some of the men about why they beat their wives, and I got very illogical and shocking replies from them. Many of them told that if she does not accept his decisions, we shall beat them up. Some told that we worked the whole day in the offices and then spit up the anger on them if they did anything wrong. Well, the reasons seem to be illogical. It has been proven by researches all around the world that a women works more than men in any circumstances and in addition, they have a sense of emotions attached to their work. These makes the job of Women more difficult. Now if somebody argues that Man brings money home, so I have an answer to that too. The members of the family do not EAT MONEY, they EAT FOOD; they do not SLEEP on MONEY, they SLEEP on BED, which is provided by the efforts of both man and woman.

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

I asked many people about the solution of these, and they told me the solution to these is MATRIARCHY meaning Women Dominating Society. Now I think that if PATRIARCHY is wrong, then MATRIARCHY is wrong too. The solution to these is EQUALITY. Treat both the genders equally and there will be no problem with either of the genders.

As I always say, “There is a DIGNITY of LIFE which everybody possess, everybody should Respect that Dignity”, irrespective of caste, gender, creed, standard etcetera.

TREAT EVERYONE EQUALLY AND THERE WILL BE NO PROBLEM and one more thing at the End,

CHARITY BEGINS AT HOME.
